UzCarlsberg to increase beer production in 2009

UzCarlsberg, Uzbek brewery of Carlsberg Group, plans to increase beer production in 2009 by 1.4 times year-on-year to 7.4 million decalitre, gazeta.uz reported.
Evgeniy Shevchenko, director-general of the venture, said the company produced 5.3 million decalitre of beer in 2008. He said the company plans to increase output by 40% in 2009.
UzCarlsberg is former Sarbast Plus, which was created by Baltic Bewerages Holding (BBH) and Sarbast Plus in June 2006. The foreign partner holds 75.1% in the venture. The venture launched brewery in Tashkent with the cost of 54.2 million euro in September 2007. The capacity of the brewery is 1 million liters a year.
In April 2008, Carlsberg Group acquired BBH. In earlier October 2008, the venture was renamed into UzCarlsberg. The venture produces two brands of Sarbast, Baltika No. 3 and No.9, and Tuborg Green.
