Uzbekneftegaz, MOL Group Discuss Oil and Gas Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Talks were held in Tashkent between the management of Uzbekneftegaz and representatives of Hungary’s MOL Group during the 28th International Oil and Gas Uzbekistan Exhibition and Conference, OGU 2026.
The meeting was led by Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdulgani Sangingov, while the Hungarian delegation was headed by Zsombor Marton.
During the negotiations, the Uzbek side presented information on ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector, measures aimed at improving the investment climate, and promising industry projects. Particular attention was given to opportunities for expanding cooperation amid the implementation of new initiatives and the modernization of the country’s energy infrastructure.
Representatives of MOL Group were briefed on the company’s experience in geological exploration, hydrocarbon production, raw material processing and petrochemical manufacturing. These areas were identified as potentially complementary for the development of bilateral cooperation.
The parties discussed the implementation of cooperation proposals previously submitted by Uzbekneftegaz to the Hungarian company in January this year. They also reviewed current and prospective projects in the Ustyurt region, where Uzbekistan is intensifying geological exploration activities.
Special attention was devoted to Uzbekneftegaz’s joint initiatives with international partners, including SOCAR and BP, as well as projects implemented under production sharing agreements.
Participants in the meeting noted that the potential involvement of MOL Group in current and future projects could be mutually beneficial and contribute to expanding Uzbekistan’s international cooperation in the energy sector.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue developing specific areas of cooperation and move toward the practical implementation stage of joint initiatives.
