Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An additional 417 projects that were not included among the initial winners have been recognized as winners under the second season of Uzbekistan's Participatory Budget initiative this year, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported.
Of the total, 346 projects received additional-winner status following an initiative by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A total of 240.3 billion soums has been allocated to finance them.
Another 71 projects were recognized as additional winners by decisions of district and city Councils of People's Deputies. These projects will be financed through additional funds from local budgets. A total of 101.0 billion soums has been allocated for their implementation.
Under the current procedure, district and city Councils of People's Deputies have the right to additionally declare further projects winners using additional local-budget funds.
As a result, a total of 2,612 projects have been recognized as winners following the second season of this year's Participatory Budget initiative. Their combined cost amounts to 3.3 trillion soums.
