Uzbekistan, World Bank Discuss Preparation for IDA Meeting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held talks with World Bank Vice President for Development Finance Akihiko Nishio in Tashkent.
The sides discussed multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Bank, including the implementation of projects under the International Development Association (IDA).
Particular attention was given to the socio-economic impact of ongoing initiatives and priority areas for further cooperation. The discussions also covered the expansion of collaboration in development financing and improving the effectiveness of joint projects.
A separate focus of the meeting was the preparation for the International Development Association meeting scheduled to take place in Tashkent in December 2026.
It was noted that the event will serve as an important international platform to showcase Uzbekistan’s experience in ensuring sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction, and job creation.
Established in 1960, the International Development Association is part of the World Bank Group and supports low-income countries by financing projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
The sides also discussed presenting to the international community the results of IDA-supported projects in Uzbekistan and their practical impact.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership and continuing support for reforms in the country.
