Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s women’s football team defeated Hong Kong 2-1 in the third round of the group stage at the 2026 Asian Games, securing a place in the playoffs.
Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Uzbekistan extended its lead in the second half when Maftuna Shoimova converted a penalty.
Hong Kong pulled one goal back through Chang Chung in the 55th minute but was unable to complete the comeback as Uzbekistan held on for a 2-1 victory.
The win took Uzbekistan to five points in Group G, with one victory, two draws and no defeats. The team finished second behind China and secured its place in the next round of the tournament.
