Uzbekistan, UK discuss interparliamentary and economic ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On April 28, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoev held an online meeting with a delegation led by Pamela Cox, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Central Asian Countries of the UK Parliament.
During the talks, the sides thoroughly reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.
Special attention was given to the development of interparliamentary dialogue, expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as strengthening collaboration in education, science, and cultural and humanitarian areas.
It was noted that in recent years political dialogue between the two countries has developed in a stable and consistent manner, with cooperation reaching a new level.
The Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership signed in April 2024, along with regular contacts between foreign ministries and governments, has given bilateral relations a systematic and long-term character.
The discussion also addressed prospects for expanding economic cooperation. Priority areas identified included the green economy, critical minerals, digital technologies, financial services, and agriculture.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized that further intensification of interparliamentary dialogue would contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom and its continued development.
