Uzbekistan, Türkiye Strengthen Interparliamentary Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, a meeting was held between Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş.
During the talks, it was noted that, thanks to the political will and trust-based relations between the leaders of the two countries, Uzbek-Turkish cooperation has reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The sides highlighted the intensification of interparliamentary contacts, regular exchanges of visits, and the steady development of bilateral interaction.
Particular attention was given to strengthening ties between parliamentary friendship groups and профиль committees, as well as to developing mechanisms for continuous dialogue and joint initiatives.
The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, industry, education, culture, and tourism. Specific emphasis was placed on enhancing parliamentary oversight and improving the legislative framework to support the implementation of high-level agreements.
In addition, the parties reviewed prospects for cooperation in areas such as innovation, banking and finance, international rankings, sustainable development, gender equality, and efforts to combat corruption and human trafficking.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Roadmap for 2026–2027 was signed, aimed at further strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
