Uzbekistan & Turkey's TOBB Deepen Business Ties at TIIF
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan hosted senior representatives of Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkic States, with both sides affirming momentum toward deeper trade, investment, and industrial ties.
The meeting brought together Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahlo Ibragimova and Chamber Chairman Adviser Jamil Maksudi on the Uzbek side, with TOBB Vice President Selçuk Öztürk and Secretary General of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkic States Adem Kulu representing the Turkish delegation.
Discussions covered the development trajectory of Uzbek-Turkish trade and economic relations, investment cooperation, industrial integration, and joint project implementation — an agenda reflecting the breadth of a bilateral relationship the two sides described as grounded in centuries of friendship, brotherhood, and mutual trust, and elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Several specific cooperation tracks drew dedicated attention: support for women entrepreneurs, the expansion of direct business contacts between the two countries' private sectors, collaboration in construction materials production, export-import operations, and investment project implementation.
The women's entrepreneurship dimension is notable, suggesting the two chambers are looking beyond conventional trade and investment frameworks toward inclusive economic development as part of their bilateral agenda.
Both delegations also took the opportunity to express satisfaction with the organisation of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, on the sidelines of which the meeting took place — a venue that has visibly served as a catalyst for a series of bilateral business engagements this week.
The meeting concluded with both parties confirming readiness to advance cooperation and strengthen business community ties — a commitment that sits within the broader context of Turkish investment in Uzbekistan having grown 5.5-fold over five years to reach $3.1 billion, according to recent Eurasian Development Bank data.
