Uzbekistan to Update Electrical Industry Standards

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan held an open dialogue dedicated to technical regulation in the electrical engineering industry, with participation from the “Uzelt ehsanoat” Association, the Agency for Technical Regulation, as well as representatives of enterprises and entrepreneurs from the energy sector.

During the discussions, participants addressed the transition to the practice of voluntary application of standards starting from 1 May 2026.

Special attention was given to the direct implementation of international standards and the improvement of a risk-based supervisory system.

It was reported that between 2026 and 2028, Uzbekistan plans to adopt 7,865 international standards, of which 750 will be directly implemented in the electrical engineering sector. This step is considered part of a large-scale modernization of the technical regulation system.

Participants were also introduced to the national conformity mark “Conformity Uzbekistan” and new approaches to product assessment based on risk analysis. The meeting included discussions on improving market surveillance mechanisms and expanding digital certification, laboratory, and metrology services through the TRIS platform.

Special focus was placed on business proposals aimed at removing technical barriers to exports, developing international certification, expanding laboratory infrastructure, and improving product quality among domestic manufacturers.
