Uzbekistan to Transfer Railway Stations to PPP Management
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to reconstruct and subsequently transfer the management of the Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Shakhrisabz railway stations to private operators under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
Issues regarding the implementation of the projects were discussed on 17 June 2026 during a meeting at Temir yo‘l vokzallari LLC.
The discussions were attended by representatives of the Asian Development Bank, international experts and consultants, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and relevant railway structures.
According to the presented data, the participants reviewed the current status and prospects of projects to modernize station infrastructure and transfer its management to private partners through PPP mechanisms.
Foreign experts joined the meeting online and presented recommendations on modernizing the stations, attracting investments, developing services in accordance with international standards, and increasing the efficiency of project implementation.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation aimed at transforming the railway stations into modern transport and service centers and further implementing the public-private partnership projects.
