Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution titled "On Measures for the Further Development and Promotion of Shooting Sports."
The document outlines significant steps to advance shooting disciplines in Uzbekistan.
As part of the initiative, specialized shooting ranges with a 10-meter distance will be gradually established to prepare athletes for Olympic and Paralympic competitions. These facilities will be equipped with modern sports equipment and supplies.
Beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year, the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports will launch bachelor’s degree programs specializing in "Sports Activity: Shooting and Trap Shooting."
To enhance the professional skills of coaches, scouts, judges, and other specialists from national teams, seminars, training sessions, and masterclasses will be held with the participation of local and foreign experts.
Starting in 2025, the following events will be held annually:
- The "Mergan Cup" in shooting sports for employees of militarized and law enforcement agencies;
- National championships in shooting sports across various age groups.
In sports schools across districts and cities, shooting sports training groups will be established in phases.
From the 2025/2026 academic year in general education institutions:
- Practical classes on the tactical and technical characteristics of firearms and air guns will be introduced as part of the "Basic Pre-conscription Training" subject;
- The training and material base of military units, educational institutions, and military ranges will be utilized for these practical sessions.
