Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to submit documents to establish a national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) by the end of 2026.
The agreement was reached at a meeting in Paris on 21 October between Davron Vakhabov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Julian Kassum, ICC deputy secretary-general for network development.
ICC leadership said the necessary conditions for Uzbekistan to formally join the organisation were in place and expressed readiness to accelerate the process, Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported.
The meeting was also attended by ICC officials responsible for national committees and the World Chambers Federation (WCF). The talks followed agreements reached in September at the Eurochambres Congress in Valencia.
In addition to establishing a national ICC committee, the parties discussed the direct membership of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the ICC and its participation in the WCF’s activities.
Measures to improve international trade mechanisms were also considered, including the development of the ATA Carnet system and the digitalisation of certificates of origin for agricultural products. The parties also discussed the possible use of ICC One Click and Chamber Benchmarking tools.
They separately addressed ICC participation in an international business forum scheduled to take place in Tashkent on 30 November–1 December, as well as the possibility of holding WCF events in Uzbekistan in the future.
The initiatives are expected to simplify international trade procedures for businesses, improve administrative processes, expand ties with foreign partners and strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbek companies in overseas markets.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to begin implementing the arrangements and continue developing their cooperation.
