Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Tax Committee is on a working visit to Jeju, South Korea, at the invitation of the country’s National Tax Service, where it is discussing modernization of tax administration and development of human resources.

The main objective of the visit is to study advanced practices in taxpayer services, professional training of specialists, and expansion of experience-sharing between the tax authorities of the two countries.

During the visit, particular attention is being paid to building sustainable cooperation between educational institutions within the tax systems of Uzbekistan and South Korea. The discussions focus on mechanisms that could improve the quality of workforce training and introduce modern approaches to education, as well as performance evaluation for tax administration staff.

Uzbekistan has previously prepared a draft strategy for comprehensive improvement of the tax system through 2030, which was presented to the President and received support. Within this reform agenda, special emphasis has been placed on developing human capital and strengthening the professional capacity of tax sector employees, requiring the study of international experience and the adoption of effective practices.

On the first day of talks in Jeju, the two sides reviewed South Korea’s mechanisms for taxpayer feedback, as well as modern systems for staff training and approaches to performance assessment. These areas were identified as particularly relevant for potential application in Uzbekistan’s ongoing tax reform process.

Following the discussions, the visit is viewed as a step toward deepening professional dialogue and developing practical solutions aimed at improving the effectiveness of tax administration and implementing strategic development objectives through 2030.
