Uzbekistan Senate Approves Changes to Pension Rules
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis approved the Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan 'On State Pension Provision for Citizens'" at its 18th plenary session. The law aims to further improve pension procedures and strengthen social protection for people with disabilities. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.
During the discussion, senators noted that the law continues reforms aimed at simplifying pension procedures, removing unnecessary bureaucratic barriers through digitalization, improving the quality of public services and strengthening the principles of social justice.
The law introduces a procedure for proactively granting disability pensions to citizens who have been assigned Group I or Group II disabilities. It also provides for the automatic recalculation of such pensions once every two years without an application from the citizen, provided that the recipient has accumulated at least one additional year of employment after the pension was initially granted.
The amendments also stipulate that the pension amount paid to a citizen after deductions may not be lower than the minimum consumer expenditure level.
According to the senators, adoption of the law will simplify the procedure for granting disability pensions, improve the accessibility and quality of public services in pension provision and provide additional social guarantees for citizens.
The law was approved by the Senate following the discussion.
