Uzbekistan starts construction of railroad “Urgench-Khiva”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan began to construct new railroad “Urgench-Khiva”, the administration of Khorezm region said in a statement.

According to the administration, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave orders to construct a new railroad between Urgench and Khiva during his visit to the region on 27-28 January 2017.

During his visit, Uzbek leader underlined importance of construction of a railway line from Urgench to Khiva and a new railway station in Khiva, commissioning electric trains and, in the future, high-speed Afrosiyob train in this route.

The launch of new railroad will help to increase potential of passengers and cargo in the region, the administration of Khorezm region said.
