Uzbekistan Senate Requests Report on Emergency Monitoring System

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis at its 15th plenary session considered the issue of sending a parliamentary inquiry to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the state of the monitoring system for natural, technological, and environmental emergencies in the country.

During discussions, it was noted that in recent years Uzbekistan has implemented large-scale reforms aimed at strengthening the protection of the population and territories from natural disasters and industrial accidents. A number of decrees and resolutions have been adopted to develop the emergency warning system and improve its effectiveness.

Despite these measures, the analysis identified a number of persistent systemic issues. These include incomplete implementation of modern monitoring and forecasting mechanisms, an insufficient level of interagency information exchange, and the need to further develop the scientific research base and train qualified personnel in this field.

During the session, it was emphasized that 82 emergency situations were recorded in the country in 2025, resulting in casualties and injuries. An increase in the number of fires and cases of gas-air mixture explosions was also noted, raising additional concern.

Senators stressed the need to improve the effectiveness of preventive measures, ensure timely detection of emergencies, and minimize their impact on the population and infrastructure.

Following the discussion, the Senate adopted a resolution to send a parliamentary inquiry to the Cabinet of Ministers, which is expected to provide information on the state of the emergency monitoring system in the country.
