Uzbekistan Senate Expands Dialogue with South Korea
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first deputy chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Sodiq Safoev, held talks in Tashkent with a delegation from the Republic of Korea led by member of the National Assembly Bok Ki-wang.
The meeting focused on the development of the bilateral strategic partnership and the expansion of interparliamentary contacts between the two countries.
Both sides noted that the special strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea continues to strengthen consistently. According to the participants, regular and open dialogue at the leadership level of the two states provides a solid foundation for deepening cooperation across all key areas.
During the talks, particular attention was paid to intensifying interparliamentary cooperation.
The parties discussed the need to strengthen the work of relevant committees and interparliamentary friendship groups, as well as to expand practical cooperation in legislative work and parliamentary oversight. They also emphasized the importance of developing interregional ties and exchanging experience between young parliamentarians.
In addition to the parliamentary agenda, the sides exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation in trade, economic, and investment areas.
Priority areas also included transport and logistics, education, healthcare, as well as cultural, humanitarian, and tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
