Uzbekistan, Russian Regions Expand Interregional Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Tashkent with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, and Vice Governor of Saint Petersburg Kirill Polyakov.

According to Khodjaev, around 200 companies from Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region are currently operating in Uzbekistan, reflecting a well-established practical foundation for bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, the sides discussed further steps to expand cooperation in areas where tangible results have already been achieved. Special attention was given to strengthening trade infrastructure and promoting new joint projects capable of enhancing interregional partnership.

Priority areas identified included industrial cooperation, agriculture, and the pharmaceutical sector. The parties also reviewed the “Saint Petersburg Quarter” project, which is planned for implementation in New Tashkent.

It was noted that agreements reached during the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM. Central Asia could serve as a basis for launching new joint initiatives and further strengthening business ties between the regions.
