Uzbekistan, Rotana Discuss Hotel Sector Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, a meeting was held between Chairman of the Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov and Chief Strategy Officer of the hotel group Rotana Amna Al Nuaimi.
During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in tourism and the hotel industry, including the possible participation of the international company in managing several accommodation facilities in Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group in July of the current year, which will address issues related to attracting Rotana to hotel management in the country. The next stage will involve preparing proposals for the implementation of joint projects in the hospitality sector.
During her visit to Uzbekistan, Amna Al Nuaimi visited Samarkand and Tashkent, where she became acquainted with the country’s tourism and investment potential and inspected several hotel facilities.
In Samarkand, the Rotana representative visited Imam Bukhari Grand Hotel, Silk Way Hotel, and SAG Hotel, located within the Imam al-Bukhari complex, as well as other hospitality projects. During the visit, an assessment was conducted of infrastructure, service levels, and development potential.
In Tashkent, special attention was given to projects located in the New Uzbekistan Park and the Center for Islamic Civilization, which are considered important growth points for the tourism sector.
Following the visit, recommendations were prepared on improving infrastructure, operational processes, and service standards based on Rotana’s international experience.
Rotana is one of the largest hotel management companies in the Middle East and operates more than 140 hotels in 17 countries worldwide.
The implementation of the agreements reached is expected to attract international expertise and investment into Uzbekistan’s hotel sector and improve the country’s tourism infrastructure.
