Uzbekistan, Rostov Region Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Russia’s Rostov Region discussed the development of interregional cooperation, labor mobility and the protection of the rights of Uzbek citizens during a series of meetings in the region.

During a working visit, a meeting was held with Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar.

The sides discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, industrial cooperation and further strengthening direct ties between regions of Russia and Uzbekistan.

Particular attention was paid to labor mobility among Uzbek citizens and improving mechanisms for processing the necessary permits.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to hold a separate working meeting with the participation of the leadership of the Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Rostov Region. The meeting is expected to address ways to simplify procedures for Uzbek citizens to obtain work patents.

The sides also discussed preparations for a visit by a delegation from the Rostov Region to Uzbekistan in March 2027. The Russian side expressed interest in including representatives of several industrial enterprises from the region in the delegation. This would help establish direct business contacts and explore opportunities for implementing joint projects.

The protection of the legal rights and interests of Uzbek citizens was discussed at a meeting with Rostov Region Human Rights Ombudsman Alexey Kharkovsky. The sides agreed to organize joint visits to enterprises and facilities where Uzbek citizens work, with the participation of a designated representative of the Ombudsman’s office.

A separate meeting was also held with Uzbek citizens working at SSK AVAKON LLC. Around 100 Uzbek citizens are employed at the enterprise. Particular attention was paid to consular and legal protection, safeguarding workers’ legal rights and interests, and compliance with migration and labor legislation.

The citizens were provided with the necessary explanations and practical recommendations.

Following the meetings, the sides confirmed their readiness to continue practical cooperation on developing interregional ties, improving organized labor mobility and consistently protecting the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens.
