Uzbekistan: Navoi Region Finds Overcrowded Damas Vehicle
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Uzbekistan’s Navoi region have identified another case of dangerous transportation of children in a Damas vehicle, according to the Road Safety Service.
The vehicle was stopped during a routine inspection, after which officers found a large number of young passengers inside the cabin, carried in violation of safety requirements.
Law enforcement officials said the driver explained that the trip was short and the children were being taken only to a nearby street.
However, traffic officers stressed that even short distances do not eliminate the risk of road accidents.
The agency emphasized that in the event of sudden braking or a collision, an overcrowded vehicle cabin poses a serious threat to the life and health of children, especially in the absence of required safety measures.
Measures are being taken against the driver in accordance with national legislation.
The Road Safety Service has once again called on citizens to take responsibility when transporting minors and to avoid putting children at risk for the sake of short trips.
The incident comes amid increased attention to road safety following a recent traffic accident in the Nurata district of Navoi region, where children from a family daycare center were injured when a vehicle overturned.
