Uzbekistan manufactures food products for 5.8 trln. soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan increased production of foodstuff by 8.6% year-on-year to 5.779 trillion soums in nine months of 2013.

The State Statistics Committee said that the share of food industry in total industrial production made up 13.2%.

The committee said that Uzbekistan increased output of bread and bakery products (12.8%), pasta, (19.9%), vegetable oil (17.6%), butter (44.7%), milk and dairy products (23.2%), cheese, including feta cheese, (8 times), laundry soap (15.4%) and mineral water (6.4%).

Production of edible alcohol (+7.7%), vodka and liquors (+6%), brandy (+8.7% ) and beer (+3.0%) also grew in the country.

Food industry of Uzbekistan increased exports by 43.5% year-on-year to US$313.6 million in January-September 2013.
