Uzbekistan explores Georgian ports to expand trade

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, familiarized himself with the transport infrastructure of Georgia, including the ports of Anaklia, Poti, and Batumi, as well as the Poti Free Industrial Zone on 3 July 2026 and 4 July 2026. The main objective of the visit was to explore opportunities for expanding Uzbekistan's export and import operations via the Georgian route.

During the visit to the port of Anaklia, special attention was paid to the prospects of the Uzbek side's participation in implementing the project of Georgia's largest deepwater port. Upon completion of construction, the port will be capable of receiving all types of vessels and will become an important element of international transport routes, also taking into account the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway corridor.

At the port of Poti, the parties reviewed the possibilities of creating warehousing and terminal infrastructure to service Uzbek export and import cargoes. Similar cooperation issues were discussed during a visit to the port of Batumi, which possesses significant potential for developing transport along the Black Sea route.

Based on the results of the visit, promising areas for further cooperation were defined.

The parties plan to prepare corresponding agreements, as well as form a consortium with the participation of Uzbek companies to implement joint projects.
