Uzbekistan, Latvia Discuss Pharma Cooperation Growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 April, a meeting was held between Zafar Kasimov, Deputy Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, and a Latvian delegation led by H.E. Girts Jaunzems, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the two sides discussed further expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as prospects for implementing joint projects and developing local production of medicinal products.
The Latvian side highly praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, the improving investment climate, and the dynamic development of the pharmaceutical industry.
Particular attention was given to the localization of pharmaceutical production, the manufacturing of modern medicines and medical devices, and the introduction of production standards aligned with European practices.
Information was presented on opportunities available to foreign investors within the Tashkent Pharma Park (Bio Pharma City) innovative scientific and industrial pharmaceutical cluster. Infrastructure conditions, tax and customs incentives, and state support measures for investment projects were also highlighted.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to continue a constructive dialogue aimed at developing joint initiatives, exchanging best practices, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
