Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Samarkand, on the sidelines of the Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) signed a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation.

From the Uzbek side, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Shohrukh Ghulamov attended the signing ceremony. The Korean side was represented by KEXIM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hwang Ki Young.

The signed document provides for the introduction of project financing mechanisms in key areas, including energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the development of green infrastructure.

To ensure practical implementation of the agreement, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group. According to a KEXIM representative, the bank intends to actively support Korean companies operating in the Uzbek market, including through the expansion of financial instruments.

During the talks, recent developments in Uzbekistan-Korea cooperation were also highlighted, including the launch of high-speed trains based on Korean technology with support from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

In addition, the integration of KEXIM and KOTRA offices in Uzbekistan was emphasized under the “K-Finance” strategy, which aims to provide businesses with comprehensive financial and marketing support through a one-stop system.
