Uzbekistan installs solar panels at over 145,000 sites
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — More than 145,000 solar energy installations have been deployed across Uzbekistan, with their total installed capacity reaching 2,114 MW, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The installations include 21,643 facilities in the social sector with a combined capacity of 425 MW, and 33,208 business entities with 1,155 MW of installed capacity. In addition, 88,489 households account for 503 MW, while 2,398 multi-apartment buildings are equipped with solar systems totaling 31 MW.
In the first quarter of 2026, small-scale solar panels generated 411 million kWh of electricity, compared with 252 million kWh in the same period of 2025, marking an increase of 159 million kWh, or 63 percent.
The growth in solar generation helped reduce consumption of conventional energy resources. Natural gas savings reached 125 million cubic meters, while avoided emissions amounted to 134,000 tons of pollutants.
The electricity generated by distributed solar systems is equivalent to the average three-month consumption of around 685,000 households.
The report also notes an increase in electricity supplied to the grid by households and businesses in excess of their own consumption. In January–March 2026, this figure reached 163.7 million kWh, which is 3.5 times higher than the 46.2 million kWh recorded in the same period of 2025.
