Uzbekistan increases coal extraction in first half of 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan’s coal mining companies extracted over 1.746 million tonnes of coal in the first half of 2009, the Uzbekugol [Uzbek coal] open joint stock company said.

Taking into account the fact that the Uzbekugol open joint stock company extracts over 3 million tonnes of coal per year, this figure shows a significant increase in coal extraction.

Uzbekistan’s power generating industry is the main consumer of coal in the country.
