Uzbekistan, Hungary to Expand Pharmaceutical Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Hungary discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, including attracting investment, introducing modern technologies and implementing joint projects, the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry said.

On 8 September, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Uzbekistan Jozsef Rozsa met with Abdulla Azizov, director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry.

During the meeting, the Hungarian diplomat was briefed on the activities of the agency, the Pharmaceutical Technical University and the BioPharma City pharmaceutical cluster. Industry representatives also presented information on projects being implemented at the cluster and its development plans.

The ambassador separately met with students of the Abu Ali ibn Sino specialized school. During the conversation, the students spoke about their interest in science and their plans for the future.

The main focus of the talks was the further development of Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry. The sides discussed opportunities to attract investment, introduce modern technologies and implement joint projects.

Following the meeting, new opportunities were identified for developing practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary in the pharmaceutical sector.

According to the data presented, Hungary’s exports of medicines and pharmaceutical products amounted to around €9.9 billion in 2025.
