Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan is holding its annual Museum Week from September 2 to 8, allowing residents to visit 114 state museums free of charge, the Agency for Cultural Heritage said.

Free admission is available at all state museums under the agency, including museum-reserves and house museums.

The initiative is available to citizens of Uzbekistan and does not apply to foreign tourists.

The Agency for Cultural Heritage said Museum Week provides an opportunity to explore the country’s history, art and national heritage, as well as learn more about unique exhibits and ancient monuments.

“Museum Week is a wonderful opportunity to explore the history, art and national heritage of our country, as well as learn many new things about unique exhibits and ancient monuments,” the agency said.

State museums in Uzbekistan can also be visited free of charge on the first Sunday of every month.
