Uzbekistan green energy output rises 32% in early 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan significantly increased electricity generation from renewable sources in the first four months of 2026. According to the Ministry of Energy, production of green energy rose by 32% compared to the same period last year.
From January to April this year, the country’s solar and wind power plants generated a total of 3.421 billion kWh of electricity. This figure is 794.4 million kWh higher than in the same period of 2025.
Solar photovoltaic plants made the largest contribution, producing 1.877 billion kWh. Wind power plants generated a further 1.544 billion kWh.
The Ministry of Energy noted that the increase in renewable energy production helped reduce natural gas consumption by 912 million cubic meters and prevented the emission of a significant volume of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
For comparison, in January–April 2025, solar and wind power plants generated 2.6266 billion kWh, including 1.5 billion kWh from solar facilities and 1.1 billion kWh from wind farms.
According to the ministry’s estimates, the current level of green energy production is equivalent to approximately three months of electricity consumption for four million households, or the annual consumption of around 1,400 households.
