Uzbekistan Gas Output Falls 15% in Q1 2026 Report
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s fuel and energy complex experienced a significant decline in the production of key hydrocarbons in the first quarter of the current year.
According to data from the National Statistics Committee, natural gas production in January–March 2026 amounted to 9.6 billion cubic meters, which is 15.0 percent lower compared to the same period last year, when output stood at 11.3 billion cubic meters.
Oil production also showed a negative trend. During the reporting period, 157.3 thousand tons of oil were extracted, compared to 160.8 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a decline of 2.2 percent.
The most significant drop was recorded in gas condensate output. Production fell by 18.3 percent to 242.3 thousand tons, down from 296.6 thousand tons in January–March of the previous year. In the first quarter of 2024, this figure had reached 327.4 thousand tons.
Coal production also slightly decreased compared to last year. In the first three months of 2026, 1.1 million tons of coal were extracted, down from 1.2 million tons a year earlier, a reduction of 8.3 percent.
Amid declining hydrocarbon production, oil refining showed mixed dynamics.
Motor gasoline production increased by 2.9 percent, reaching 313.2 thousand tons compared to 304.3 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2025.
Diesel fuel production demonstrated strong growth. In January–March of the current year, 280.9 thousand tons of diesel were produced, which is 54.3 percent higher than the same period last year, when output stood at 182.0 thousand tons.
