Uzbekistan FM Meets Egypt's PM in Cairo to Deepen Bilateral Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held high-level talks with Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Kamal Madbouly in Cairo, pressing for a qualitative upgrade in bilateral trade, industrial cooperation, and investment ties while affirming alignment on regional security.
Saidov conveyed personal greetings and best wishes from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, setting a tone of institutional warmth that both sides said reflects a mature political dialogue built on mutual trust.
At the core of the negotiations was a shared assessment that the existing level of trade and economic engagement falls short of the two countries' potential. The ministers examined concrete mechanisms for expanding industrial cooperation, diversifying transport and logistics corridors connecting Central Asia and North Africa, and launching new joint investment projects — signaling a move from diplomatic goodwill toward actionable economic architecture.
The humanitarian dimension of bilateral relations also featured prominently. Both sides agreed to intensify contacts in education, culture, and religious-educational outreach as instruments for deepening people-to-people ties — an area where Egypt's Al-Azhar institution and Uzbekistan's Islamic scholarly tradition offer natural common ground.
On the international agenda, Saidov offered Tashkent's explicit endorsement of Cairo's peacekeeping role in the Middle East, praising Egypt's consistent commitment to resolving conflicts through exclusively political and diplomatic means — a notable statement of alignment at a time of heightened regional volatility.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the comprehensive partnership across all priority tracks following the conclusion of talks.
