Uzbekistan Discusses Hazardous Waste Recycling Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Aziz Abdukhakimov, Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues and Chair of the National Committee on Climate Change, met with Omar N. Al-Midani, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vision Invest, to discuss measures to accelerate the implementation of an investment project for the recycling of hazardous industrial waste.
The talks focused on prospects for introducing modern, environmentally safe technologies for processing hazardous waste in Uzbekistan in line with international standards.
The parties paid particular attention to the project's technical, financial and organisational aspects. They exchanged views on its practical implementation and agreed on further phased measures needed to launch the initiative. They also discussed the preparation of the necessary documentation, information exchange and coordination of joint work.
Participants noted that the project would establish a modern system for the safe collection, transportation, treatment and recycling of hazardous industrial waste.
The project is expected to help reduce the environmental and public health impacts of hazardous waste while supporting the development of environmentally safe waste management infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation and intensifying joint efforts to implement the project and fulfil the agreements reached.
