Uzbekistan Discusses Agricultural Cooperation With World Bank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Abdurakhmonov held talks with Holger Krey, the World Bank’s Regional Manager for Agriculture in Europe and Central Asia, to discuss expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation, implementing prospective projects, and effectively utilising investment opportunities.
The sides paid particular attention to the modernisation of agriculture, the introduction of innovative approaches, and the development of cooperation with international financial institutions.
Both parties stressed the importance of elevating cooperation to a new level.
A separate topic of the meeting was the AgriConnect programme, initiated by the World Bank.
The programme aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, management, and investment decisions in agriculture, improve data systems, enhance monitoring and analytics, and ensure the effective use of grants and investment resources.
During the discussions, the sides exchanged views on the possibilities of attracting grant and investment resources under the AgriConnect programme in Uzbekistan, as well as mechanisms for directing them to priority areas of the agricultural sector and improving efficiency.
The meeting also covered prospective project initiatives, their practical implementation, and new areas of cooperation.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation under the AgriConnect programme and prepare concrete proposals for priority areas.
