Uzbekistan Delegation Takes Part in Geneva Regional Forum on Sustainable Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, together with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), took part in the 2026 Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) region held in Geneva.
The forum was held under the theme “Transforming Together: Innovative and Fair Action for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” and focused on accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
It also aimed to promote practical solutions and strengthen regional cooperation among participating countries.
The event contributed to preparations for the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2026 and served as a platform to review progress, discuss challenges, and exchange international best practices.
Key Sustainable Development Goals discussed during the forum included access to clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry and innovation development, sustainable cities, and strengthened partnerships.
Through high-level sessions, plenary meetings, and thematic roundtables, participants shared national experiences, policy approaches, and mechanisms to accelerate SDG implementation. Emphasis was placed on cross-sector cooperation, innovation, and regional collaboration.
Uzbekistan’s participation allowed the delegation to present ongoing reforms in sustainable development, agriculture, food security, and climate change adaptation.
The outcomes of the forum highlighted the importance of dialogue and knowledge exchange in strengthening Uzbekistan’s cooperation with international organizations and expanding its role in regional sustainable development initiatives.
