Uzbekistan creates almost 1m jobs in 2011 – President

The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on 19 January 2012 stated that Uzbekistan created almost 1 million new jobs in 2011.
Islam Karimov noted that the government paid special attention to creation of jobs in 2011 and implementation of territorial employment programmes helped to create 1 million jobs, of which 68% were created in rural areas.
He underlined that 64% of new jobs were created due to stimulation of small and private businesses, and farms, as well as providing preferences to them. He said that 28% of jobs were created due to construction of new enterprises and expanding outwork.
