Uzbekistan bans e-cigarettes and nicotine delivery systems

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of Uzbekistan has approved a new law introducing amendments to several legislative acts aimed at tightening regulations on the circulation of tobacco products and nicotine devices.

Senators emphasized that the country continues its efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle, particularly among young people. However, the growing illegal circulation of new types of nicotine products — including electronic cigarettes, liquids, and heated tobacco systems — has raised serious concerns.

The new law introduces amendments to the Criminal Code and the Administrative Liability Code. It establishes liability for the illegal production, storage, sale, import, and export of prohibited tobacco and nicotine products. At the same time, the law allows individuals who voluntarily report violations and surrender banned products to be exempt from punishment.

Lawmakers noted that the legislation aims to protect public health, safeguard the environment, and preserve the nation’s genetic heritage.
