Uzbekistan Central Bank Issues Coins for FIFA 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Central Bank of Uzbekistan has issued commemorative coins dedicated to the national football team’s first-ever participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026, according to the regulator’s press service.

The Central Bank noted that Uzbekistan’s qualification for the world championship is one of the most significant events in the country’s sporting history. To mark the occasion, commemorative coins have been minted in high-purity gold and silver.

The coins are made of 999.9 fine gold and silver and weigh 31.1 grams. The issuance will be limited, with 100 gold coins and 1,000 silver coins planned. Sales will begin on 18 June at 690 branches of commercial banks across the country. Information on pricing and availability will be published daily on the official resources and social media channels of the Central Bank.

The obverse of the coins features the logo of the Uzbekistan Football Association, an image of a football, and the inscription “Tarixiy zafar. O‘zbekiston futboli jahon chempionatida — 2026.” It also includes the name of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a face value of 100,000 soums.

According to the regulator, the design symbolizes the historic achievement of the national team and its qualification for the World Cup. A central element of the design is the national team, known among fans as the “White Wolves.”

The reverse depicts a wolf silhouette composed of 26 football player figures, including three goalkeepers. The Central Bank said the symbol reflects team spirit, unity, and determination to win.

The design also incorporates ornamental elements inspired by traditional Uzbek art and architecture, which, according to the regulator, combine the sporting theme with the country’s cultural heritage.

The coins will be presented in special green packaging styled after a football pitch. The center of the box features a space for the coin resembling the center circle of the field. The Central Bank emphasized that the commemorative coins have high artistic and collectible value and are issued in a strictly limited edition.
