Uzbekistan and EBRD Expand Energy Sector Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Within the framework of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov held a meeting with Sülé Kılıç, Regional Director for the Eurasia region at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

During the talks, it was noted that the portfolio of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD in the energy sector has reached nearly US$2 billion. The sides said this confirms Uzbekistan’s status as one of the bank’s key strategic partners in Central Asia.

Participants discussed the current status of ongoing energy projects, mechanisms for promptly addressing emerging issues, and opportunities to increase local content within implemented initiatives.

Special attention was given to the development of renewable energy sources, modernization of main electricity transmission networks, and implementation of electrification projects for compressor stations.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue joint work to accelerate the implementation of energy projects and expand cooperation in priority areas of the sector.
