Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Authorities in Uzbekistan’s Ferghana Region are exploring opportunities to implement infrastructure projects in water supply, wastewater management and irrigation, drawing on international expertise and public-private partnership mechanisms.
These issues were discussed by Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov at a meeting in Riyadh with Ahmad Al-Mansour, chief investment officer of Al Khorayef Water and Power Technologies.
The talks took place during a working visit by an Uzbek delegation to Saudi Arabia. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Nodirjon Turgunov, also attended the meeting.
The sides considered prospects for cooperation in providing residents with high-quality drinking water, modernising sewerage and drainage systems, and improving the efficiency of existing infrastructure facilities.
Particular attention was given to introducing modern technologies and applying international experience in the development of utility networks.
Khayrullo Bozorov noted that creating comfortable living conditions for residents and developing modern infrastructure to support business activity were among the regional authorities’ priorities.
In this regard, he emphasised the importance of attracting foreign companies and making effective use of public-private partnership mechanisms, including in the construction and modernisation of drinking water supply, wastewater management and irrigation systems.
Representatives of Al Khorayef Water and Power Technologies outlined the company’s experience in water supply, wastewater treatment and infrastructure management.
The participants also discussed potential areas for mutually beneficial cooperation in Ferghana Region.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to jointly study promising infrastructure projects, identify priority areas and explore opportunities for further practical cooperation based on public-private partnerships.
