Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov met with Algeria’s Minister of Mining Industry Murad Hanifi on 5 October. The sides discussed promising areas of cooperation in the mining and metallurgical sectors.
The talks covered opportunities for cooperation in geology and geological exploration, as well as investment and institutional cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to technology transfer and the introduction of modern geological modelling methods.
The sides also discussed jointly studying promising deposits of lithium, tantalum, niobium and other rare elements, as well as training specialised personnel.
The participants considered opportunities to implement projects for the local processing of various metals. They also discussed exchanging experience with the Almalyk and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Complexes.
Following the meeting, the Uzbek side proposed establishing a specialised working group within the framework of the future intergovernmental commission and preparing an interagency agreement.
The proposed mechanisms are intended to provide a basis for further developing practical cooperation between the two countries in geology, mining and mineral resources processing.
