Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 April 2026, a meeting was held between the Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, and representatives of the World Bank to discuss prospects for cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.

During the talks, Azizov presented ongoing comprehensive measures aimed at advancing the industry, including the implementation of the “BioPharm City” project, structural reforms, expansion of export opportunities, and steps to align product quality and safety standards with international requirements.

World Bank representatives noted the positive momentum in the development of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical industry. They also highlighted ongoing analytical work focused on boosting exports, improving quality infrastructure, and supporting the private sector.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to continue dialogue on strengthening cooperation, increasing export potential, enhancing quality assurance systems, and developing human capital in the pharmaceutical field.
