Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Spain have agreed to organise a friendly match between their national futsal teams in 2027 and expand the exchange of expertise between specialists.

The agreements were discussed on 21 October during a working visit to Spain by Bekzod Mamatkulov, president of the Uzbekistan Futsal Association, who met representatives of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Participants included Paco Sedano, head of the Spanish federation’s futsal department, former Spain national team goalkeeper and Spanish team head coach Fede Vidal, and other officials. They introduced the Uzbek delegation to Spain’s football and futsal infrastructure, the work of its specialists and the conditions in which athletes train.

The sides also agreed to create opportunities for Uzbekistan’s national team coaches to undertake professional development and practical training in Spain. They discussed prospects for joint projects and further cooperation between the two federations.

Jose Maria Mendez Pulpis, a former head coach of Uzbekistan’s national futsal team who is currently receiving medical treatment in Spain, also attended the meeting.

The agreements are expected to help Uzbek specialists learn from Spain’s experience in player development and contribute to the further development of futsal in Uzbekistan.
