Uzbekistan and OTS Discuss Drought Mitigation Technologies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov held official talks with Balazs Hendrik, Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Drought Prevention Institute.

The meeting was dedicated to moving multi-lateral cooperation in the agricultural sector to a new level and supporting initiatives focused on achieving concrete, practical results.

During the dialogue, the parties prioritized mechanisms for ensuring the sustainability of the agricultural industry under conditions of global climate change.

In particular, the executives reviewed in detail the prospects for scaling the exchange of agricultural scientific achievements and innovations among OTS member states, integrating modern water-saving technologies, and implementing advanced international expertise in drought mitigation within Uzbekistan.

Balazs Hendrik previously raised these topics during his speech at a specialized panel session of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, which focused on the interconnection of water, energy, and food resources.

Additionally, the meeting participants discussed opportunities to launch joint investment and technology projects utilizing the platform of the OTS representation office in Hungary.

The long-term partnership program includes strengthening direct ties between specialized research institutions, implementing modern agricultural technologies, increasing the efficiency of water resource management, and consolidating efforts to ensure food security in the region.
