Uzbekistan and New Zealand Share Deposit Guarantee Experience

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Deposit Guarantee Agency held a video conference with representatives of New Zealand's Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) to exchange experience on organizing compensation payouts and informing depositors, according to the Deposit Guarantee Agency.

Representatives of the DCS outlined the operation of their system, procedures for paying compensation to depositors during a insured event, and the organization and management of relevant administrative processes.

Special attention was given to public relations and communications. The New Zealand delegation presented its strategies for raising public awareness about the deposit guarantee scheme and agency operations, alongside approaches for engaging key stakeholders.

Representatives of Uzbekistan's Deposit Guarantee Agency detailed their institutional activities and shared practical experience. In particular, the participants reviewed a real-world guarantee case that occurred in early 2026 following the revocation of a banking license from a commercial bank in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek side also presented results from a public survey and outlined methodologies for increasing citizen awareness regarding the deposit guarantee system. Furthermore, discussions covered the ongoing development of a comprehensive communication strategy and future directions for enhancing depositor information systems.

Following the meeting, both parties highlighted the practical value of the exchange and expressed readiness to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The Depositor Compensation Scheme is managed by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
