Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis, led by Anvar Tuychiev, chairman of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management and Environmental Issues, visited Lithuania on 7–9 September.
As part of the visit, members of the interparliamentary cooperation groups between Uzbekistan and Lithuania held another meeting.
The participants discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
Particular attention was paid to further intensifying the work of the interparliamentary groups, holding regular meetings and negotiations, exchanging legislative experience, and identifying new areas of cooperation between the two parliaments.
During the talks, the importance of exchanging experience in parliamentary oversight and improving legislation was emphasized. The sides also discussed regional development, ecology and environmental protection, as well as the rational use of water resources.
The participants stressed the need to make more effective use of the opportunities offered by the interparliamentary groups, organize regular reciprocal visits and expand practical cooperation to ensure the consistent development of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Lithuania.
Following the visit, the parties agreed to further strengthen interparliamentary cooperation, support mutually beneficial initiatives and intensify ties between the parliaments of the two countries.
