Uzbekistan Agriculture Grows 4.8% in Q1 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector produced 63,384.3 billion soums worth of goods and services in January–March 2026, according to preliminary data. The majority of this output came from agricultural activities, while forestry and fisheries also contributed significant volumes.

The largest share was generated by crop production, livestock, hunting, and related services, totaling 59,780.7 billion soums. Forestry accounted for 3,063.5 billion soums, while fisheries contributed 540.1 billion soums.

Agricultural production alone reached 58,451.8 billion soums in the first quarter, increasing by 4.8% compared with the same period in 2025. Crop production amounted to 3,867.5 billion soums, rising 27.4%, while livestock production reached 54,584.3 billion soums, up 3.3%.

Regional data shows uneven growth across the country. The highest agricultural output was recorded in Samarkand region at 7,642.3 billion soums, followed by Tashkent region with 6,664.1 billion soums, Bukhara region with 5,589.8 billion soums, and Surkhandarya region with 5,000.1 billion soums. The lowest levels were reported in the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 1,751.5 billion soums, Syrdarya region at 1,790.8 billion soums, and Navoi region at 3,098.8 billion soums.

The fastest growth rates were observed in Surkhandarya region (109.7%), Syrdarya (107.7%), and Bukhara (105.8%). More moderate growth was recorded in Tashkent region (101.8%), Fergana (103.9%), and Namangan (104.0%). Karakalpakstan and Tashkent region both registered 102.4% growth, while Jizzakh region recorded 104.2%.

The structure of production remains heavily dominated by household and dehkan farms, which account for 81.6% of total agricultural output. Farmers account for 8.2%, while agricultural enterprises contribute 10.2%.

In livestock production, output reached 54,584.3 billion soums, up 3.3% year on year. The largest volumes were recorded in Samarkand region (7,398.7 billion soums), Tashkent region (6,194.8 billion soums), Bukhara region (5,160.6 billion soums), Kashkadarya region (4,715.9 billion soums), and Fergana region (4,623.5 billion soums).

The lowest figures were reported in Syrdarya region (1,625.2 billion soums), Karakalpakstan (1,608.0 billion soums), and Navoi region (2,962.4 billion soums). The strongest livestock growth rates were observed in Syrdarya (104.9%), Khorezm (104.7%), Samarkand (104.1%), and Navoi (104.0%).

Sector indicators show production growth in key livestock outputs, including a 2.9% increase in meat production (live weight), 4.1% in milk, 5.7% in eggs, and a sharp 28.9% rise in wool production. Karakul pelt production increased by 5.0%.

Households dominate livestock production, accounting for 83.4% of meat output, 87.7% of milk, 45.5% of eggs, 65.6% of wool, and 81.5% of karakul pelts. Farmers contribute between 6.9% of meat production and 23.0% of wool output, while agricultural organizations account for up to 35.5% of egg production.

In fisheries, production is more evenly distributed among operators. Organizations account for 53.1% of fish harvest, farmers for 39.9%, and household farms for 7.0%.
