Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 May, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, who was visiting the country on an official trip, to discuss further development of bilateral cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Serbian minister conveyed greetings and best wishes from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to the Uzbek leader.

The sides noted that cooperation between the two countries has been developing based on agreements reached at the highest level in October 2025. They emphasized the growing intensity of contacts between governments, parliaments, and business communities, as well as the expansion of humanitarian exchanges.

Special attention was paid to increasing trade turnover and advancing joint projects. Priority areas identified included mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, information technologies, agriculture, and tourism.

The sides agreed to hold the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Belgrade later this year to ensure systematic promotion of economic cooperation.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in the field of organized labor migration, as well as collaboration in cultural and educational areas.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on current regional and international issues and reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level contacts.
