Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The United States will require all passengers arriving on international flights, including transit travellers, to complete a declaration before departure.
The new requirement will take effect at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on 3 November and is intended to reduce the risk of the Ebola virus entering the country.
Before boarding, passengers must complete and sign a paper or electronic declaration confirming that they have not been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) during the 21 days preceding their flight.
Transit through an airport in the DRC will also count as having been in the country, even if passengers do not leave the aircraft or airport building.
For passengers under the age of 18, the declaration must be signed by a parent, guardian or another authorised person.
Passengers who fail to submit the completed declaration before departure will not be allowed to board their flight.
The form is available on the website of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
