UN chief to attend SCO conference on Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will attend a conference dedicated to the conflict in Afghanistan, the UN said Thursday. The conference will be held in Moscow, Russia, on 27 March.

The conference will examine ways for countries to jointly tackle threats arising from the conflict and instability in Afghanistan including terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime, she said.

The meeting is hosted by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization which includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
